CRICKET BASICS-BATTING As i said in before blog without proper basics just impossible to play professional cricket.I don't mean to say whether you play for club or any.looking in professional manner.More of us might think how we are appearing for others while playing. If you want that professional look should be adopted to some basics. BATTING BASICS 1.GRIP 2.STANCE 3.BATLIFTorBACK LIFT What is gripping? How to hold the the bat in proper way is gripping. In the above picture you can see the gripping position in olden days. Can you guess in this you have a problem while playing DRIVE.Some inconvenience from the upper hand, causes no free movement. But you know it is effective to play cut shot. With these batting grips we are going to learn in future "HOW TO READ THE BATSMAN".Then we are learning correct way of gripping. Here we know TYPES OF STROKES 1.VERTICAL:Straight batted strokes 2.Horizontal :Cross batted strokes Here we have to observe Have both strokes have both gripping? Not completely true or false. What i am exactly saying is for effective stroke making and safe scoring it is essential to change according the length of the ball. This can identified if you are keen observer of cricket matches. If you have the doubt that is it possible to change the grip position? let me clarify it.Above 140 km/h bowling speed how a player can choose perfect stroke judgement. Will be covered in the next topic. Here vertical preferable to a batter which has no risk. Here you can observe the grip.Take the bat with your both hands and grip it like above image. Here thumb and index finger's V formation of both hands should be gripped behind the handle of the bat above the spine part of the bat.Very easy to explain just put the bat down with handle pointing towards the feet then pick it up Have you remember DINESH MONGIA(former left hand batsman) what he was doing more times while in batting.Always before every ball facing he checks his gripping Of course more players do but he is excellent example.I can say he was great timer of the ball, very conscious and concentrated throughout his entire innings.WHEN A PLAYER CONSCIOUS ON HIS BASICS CAN BUILD A GREAT INNINGS.When you are playing Vertical strokes Top hand should be grip tightly and Bottom hand shouldn't give more power than Top hand.Because in Vertical strokes Bottom hand is SUPPORTIVE HAND.Likewise in Horizontal strokes stroke making hand is bottom hand and supportive hand is Top hand.A Perfect GRIP gives us POWER AND CONTROL over strokes. STANCE This is too important for looking good.there are some physiological terms influencing cricket for safe playing. Now let me explain.A perfect stance gives us STABILITY and MOBILITY.If it is perfect stance you can stand comfortable can move freely to any side. 1.Two toes should be parallel each other with shoulder width apart. 2.knees slightly bent forward 3.Back should be bent. 4.Elbow should point towards the bowler 5.Eyes in horizontal position 6.Chin down See the 4th point it is about SHOULDER POINTING.Cricket is a side-on game.So if a bowler coming around the stumps then adjust your position according to the bowler then it is easy to observe.Elbow pointing towards the bowler means that.ALWAYS SEE DOWNWARD THE WICKET WITH EYES LEVEL POSITION. BAT LIFT Is it important to do?of course it is important.Consistent bat lift effects good innings.BAT LIFT should be close to the body. Not far from the body.PLAYED ON will be occurred due to this.A famous commentator commented on this that"he was bowled because a huge gap between his bat and foot,a car can travel between this gap"That was the comment but we have to focus why it happened? 1.Bat lift should be close to the body 2.Always open the foot just beside the line of the ball.we will discuss in FOOT WORK OF THE BATSMAN According the bounce of the wicket bat lift should be changed. It is essential to know to score runs.If it is bouncy high bat lift preferred,in low bounce low bat lift will be preferred. Above three are the basics for batting and will be continued in next blogs.please share your views to hkniranjanhari@gmail.com...................................................................
